The Saigol Group is a group of companies owned by one of Pakistan's wealthiest families, the Saigols. The family and its companies are based in Lahore, Pakistan.
The Saigols originally hail from Chakwal.^[1] The group is managed by three Saigol brothers: Tariq, Nasim and Taufeeq.^[2] Also part of the family is sister Naz Saigol, now married to Mian Muhammad Mansha Yaha.
Amin Saigol was the founder of the Saigol dynasty where he started a Calcutta shoe shop, the shop eventually led the Bihar Rubber Works in 1938. Amin had a son called Yusuf who is the father of this business Trio.
In 1948, the Saigols migrated from Calcutta and initiated their business in Faisalabad, the textile city of Pakistan, under the banner of Kohinoor Industries Limited.
Tariq Saigol is the eldest brother, he is head of Kohinoor-Maple group, which owns the Kohinoor textile mills and Maple-Leaf Cement. He is known to be openly critical of the Pakistani governments lack of interest in the textile sector. Nasim Saigol heads PEL and Kohinoor industries. Rafiq is the youngest brother, he takes care of the groups other business interests.
There is a village in Pakistan called [Saigolabad - 7 KM from Chakwal City], named after this influential business family.

        The Gul Ahmed Group is a Pakistani company that includes Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, Gul Ahmed Energy and Habib Metropolitan Bank. More recently, a chain of retail outlets has been founded under the name "Ideas by Gul Ahmed". The group's other concerns go by the name of Swisstex Chemicals (Private) Limited, which is a large chemical distribution company that has the sole rights for supplying Ciba Specialty Chemicals in Pakistan. The group has invested in outsourcing information technology with Arwen Technologies.^[2]

The Gul Ahmed Group began trading in textiles in the early 20th century. In 1953, the group decided to enter the field of manufacturing under the name Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited, and was incorporated as a privately limited company. In 1972, it was listed on theKarachi Stock Exchange. Since then, the company has made rapid progress and is currently one of the leading composite textile houses in the world.

The mill is presently a composite unit with an installed capacity of 130,000 spindles, 250 wide width air jet looms, 90 Sulzers, 297 conventional looms, and a state-of-the-art processing and finishing unit.

Ideas by Gul Ahmed is the retail venture of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills. Considering the growing trend towards the retail industry inPakistan, as well as the increase in cotton prices and the need to focus more on value-added products, the company decided to diversify into the country's retail sector in 2003.[1][2] Ideas offers a range of home textiles and furnishings for the bedroom, kitchen andbathroom, as well as men's and women's apparel.[3] It also provides in-house monogramming, embroidery and tailor-made services.

The Ideas flagship store is located in the Clifton area of Karachi, with plans to establish a retail chain throughout Pakistan.

Hussain Dawood (born 1943) is a Pakistani Memon industrialist, educationist and philanthropist, with origins from Bantva, Gujarat in western India.^[1][2][3] He is the Chairman^[4] of Dawood Hercules Corporation Limited. He is also the Chairman^[5] of Engro Corporation Limited, Hub Power Company Limited,^[6][7] Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund^[8][9] and The Dawood Foundation.
His social activities include Chairmanship of the International Advisory Council of the Cradle to Cradle Institute^[10] in San Francisco, Karachi Education Initiative’s Karachi School for Business & Leadership.^[11] He also serves as a Member^[12] of the Government of Pakistan Education Task Force, Director of the Pakistan Business Council,^[13] Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy, Beaconhouse National University^[14] and is a Global Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE).^[15]
He is the Honorary Consul of Italy in Lahore and was conferred the award “Ufficiale Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana” by the Italian Government.^[16] Mr. Dawood is an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA, and a graduate in Metallurgy from Sheffield University, UK.

Marriott Islamabad

Marriott too, belongs to Hashoo Group. When Hashoo Group started using the Marriott name it was one of the first times in the history of the corporation that they had given a franchise to a hotel that was not directly under their management control. An achievement for Hashoo group, indeed. Sadruddin Hashwani terms it as a matter of great satisfaction because when he met Bill Marriott he had never thought about the franchise. Then they sent their people to inspect these hotels before offering the franchise. As a matter of fact, the franchise agreement of the Marriott was made based on Hashwani’s hotel contract and drafted here in Pakistan. Today the format of franchise agreements has been initiated by the Hashoo Group and Sadruddin Hashwani is very satisfied that Marriott decided to recognize the product and lend it their name.^[3]

Iqbal Ali Lakhani is a Pakistani industrialist belonging to Karachi's wealthy Ismaili Lakhani family that is reported to be among the top 22 richest families in the country.^[1] He is one of four brothers controlling the Lakson Group and he is the group chairman.
Their businesses are very diverse. Their flagship company was the Lakson Tobacco Company which is the largest tobacco exporter in Pakistan. The company was recently sold to Phillip Morris International.
Lakhani, is the most well-known of all Ismaeli tycoons. Their stakes range from media, tobacco, paper, chemicals and surgical equipment to cotton, packaging, insurance, detergents, Pakistan's largest data communication company CYBERNET and other house-hold items, many of which are joint ventures with leading international conglomerates.


The Lakson Group, was founded in 1954. Lakson Group is a well-known business group in Pakistan. The conglomerate is run by the Lakhani brothers among whom Iqbal Ali Lakhani is Chairman of the Lakson group. His siblings are Amin Lakhani, Sultan Lakhani and Zulfiqar Lakhani. Its head office is located at Karachi, Sind, Pakistan. The Group's portfolio consists of detergents and soaps, toothpaste, food products, fast food restaurants, insurance, internet services, software, paper and board, printing, powdered beverages and tea, packaging, publications, surgical instruments, and textiles.
